Troy Surratt grew up in a small town called Kernersville in the heart of North Carolina. He began playing drums at the age of 13. Shortly after getting his first drum set Christmas of his 8th grade year he began to take lessons from a local instructor by the name of Robert Crutchfield. Robert has taught many students including one of Troy's favorites Blake Richardson from Between the Buried and Me. He continued lessons on and off throughout high school and stopped when he fell into his first band his senior year.

Over the next few years Troy played in and out of different style bands ranging from Alternative/Radio Rock, Classic/Indy Rock, and Hardcore/Metal. Now at 21 Years old Troy is the drummer and founder of the progressive rock/metal group "Hephystus" signed to Spectra Records. This is his 3rd band with lead singer Brandon Miller and lead guitar player Matt Halberg who were both in his first band back in high school. Pick up there brand new album "Burn the Page" late 2010!
