Tony Hunt Drummer Official

Tony Hunt is an independent drummer based in the Saint Louis area. After beginning to learn the basic concepts of drumming at the age 4, Tony began to mimic music from the radio and old albums of his parents. Once out of grade school Tony joined the school concert band program and in his first competition, earned the highest grade possible on a snare drum solo. From that point onward, the music kept coming.

During high school, Tony became the first band captain in with the Grandview Pride Marching Band (2006). This was the first season the school had a marching band. Tony also earned the highest achievement in high school music by winning the John Phillip Sousa Award after placing in the top ten for Missouri High School jazz drummers during his senior year (2007).

In college, Tony marched in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade with Missouri State University's Pride Band (battery - cymbal line anchor) as the opening band (2008). Later that year, Tony joined the band Superstar Runner and would release a six song demo. Tony would later be asked to guest record a track on the band's Olympic Champion album (2009).

Tony would then release a solo album titled Perpetual Motion. This album would feature three short drum solo's, a track featuring Tony on drums, acoustic guitar and vocals, five tracks previously released with Superstar Runner (with band's permission) and a bass solo featuring Tony's brother, Drew (2010).

The following year, Tony would join the band Kadem. Kadem would release a six song EP and briefly work with Universal Records artist development affiliates (2011). Tony was selected by Drum! Magazine for their “New Blood” section, showcasing his work with Kadem (2011). Tony would sign an endorsement deal with Soultone Cymbals based upon his work with Kadem (2012). An endorsement deal that remains active to this day.

Tony would join the Indie Rock group Shotgun Abby in 2012. As a member of this group, Tony would be chosen as a Saint Louis RAW artist, compete in the Hard Rock Café Saint Louis Battle of the Bands final round, appear as a guest on the JohnandKane Radio Show w/ Indio Radio (Webster University) and record a six song demo (2014).

Tony then took a break from the music scene to focus on family and academics. Tony completed his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice and also married the love of his life, Jennifer (2016). As part of the ceremony and reception, Tony once again reunited with fellow Kadem members, Shawn and Joe to relive some of their finest musical moments.

Tony returned to the full-time music scene when he joined the jam band group The Croft Brothers Band (2018) as their drummer and percussionist. During this time, the group would perform several live cover/original shows under the primary genre of funk and classic rock. The group would also record several singles including a 26 minute journey entitled "Moon Snake" (2020). In summer of 2022, Tony left the group for personal reasons but rejoined in the fall of 2023.

Tony also started a new project with fellow friend and musician, Joe Wren; Dr. Sctt and the Dammit Janets (2023). This is an original project that incorporates all styles/genres. In this project, Tony is featured as a songwriter and vocalist as well as drums and percussion. This project is in the early developmental stages but the ultimate goal of the project is to write, record and then perform the music. However, no timeline exists for any of these stages.

Tony also became a volunteer drumline instructor for the Grandview High School(Ware, MO) Pride Band (2023) and a percussion/drum set instructor for the school's winter drumline, concert band and jazz ensembles throughout the rest of the school year. Tony will also offer drum lessons for anyone interested within the Grandview School District.

Tony offers drum lessons and artist development services for other musicians/bands. Tony is also available for hire for recording, performance or teaching requests.

With musical backgrounds in Jazz, Orchestral, Contemporary, Indie, Blues, Rock, Funk and many other genres, Tony’s skills are very unique in the sense of creativity, often mixing and matching different characteristics of each genre, to give every song exactly what it needs.
