Authorship: In addition to contributions to drum, guitar and vocals syllabus publications, Stuart has written Grade 7 and Grade 8 drum pieces for a UK Music Board. The latest publication is contribution to a new theory syllabus and the writing of a teaching diploma qualification with accompanying handbook.
Music Exam Board Syllabus Advisor: In 2013 Stuart accepted the role as Rockschool syllabus advisor
across the instrument range of drums, guitar, bass, vocals and piano.
Background: Stuart’s passion for music set alight as a boy after hearing Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple & Rush. The door was opened and he became a drummer by trade, initially playing pubs, clubs & functions. He became more serious about his drumming and made the decision to build a music career, culminating in Drums Grade 8 (distinction), tuition at Drumtech London and studying at Access to Music.
Performance: Over the years, Stuart's live work has included many bands across the south of England, including a headlining festival funk band and a UK theatre touring tribute show. Both were played live to click & track and required a full written transcription of the drum parts. He is the drummer for the
fantastic ‘Bee Gees Fever’, regularly performing in venues and theatres across the UK.
Recording: This continued into the studio where to this day Stuart provides session drums for ‘Attic Attack Studios’ in Bristol, including supplying all the drum tracks for a commercial music software CD ‘Song Factory’, a virtual recording studio which allows users to create their own tracks using samples. He
also developed and provided the drum tracks on the album ‘Chasing Rainbows’ by solo artist ‘Oz’, has written and recorded teaching material for educational use and has played drum on a number of CD’s for a number of Bristol based bands.
Teaching: Having achieved an Access to Music teaching qualification at the British Academy of New Music in London, Stuart delved into private tuition and in 2003 established a drum school which developed into the recruitment of further teachers and now includes guitar and bass. The school has a
100% pass rate with Rockschool exam board and teaches in numerous schools throughout Wiltshire.
Judging: In recent years Stuart has been selected as panel judge in regions throughout the UK for ‘Live and Unsigned UK ‘ and ‘Open Mic UK’, both run by Future Music, the largest UK music competitions for original artists. This includes solo artists, vocal groups & bands, with a grand final in London’s O2 Arena. Stuart is now head judge in regions across the UK and judged the Rock Final in the O2 Arena in 2012. He has also judged on the South Wales 'WhY Factor Talent Show', 'Britain Does Variety' theatre
tour, and the recently formed 'TeenStar' across the UK.

Stuart lives in Wiltshire, in the UK with his wife Jo and their 2 children, Amy (11) and William (9). His greatest achievement to date is coaching Will into Swindon Town FC U9’s football academy….
