Sal Rodriguez has been playing professionally for over forty years, the last 28 of which he has been a member of the group WAR. The band has sold over 50 million records worldwide with hits like Lowrider, Cisco kid, All Day Music, Why can’t we be friends, Summer, The World is Ghetto, Slipping into Darkness and Spill the Wine and many more. WAR averages 70 to 100 shows a years worldwide.
Sal has performed from Carnegie Hall to Roy Albert Hall in London with Eric Burdon also has toured the world with such greats as The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Tom Jones, Jose Feliciano, Tierra, El Chicano, Texas Mex Legend "Little Joe & La Familia", Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night and many others. Sal Iron Butterfly', also had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of his idles like Carlos Santana, Tony tBennett, The Doobie Brothers, Tower of Power, Malo, Aretha Franklyn, Earth Wind And Fire, AWB, Alice Cooper, Los Lobos and his all time favorite band Grand Funk, and the list goes on.
Sal has appeared in movies and on television including such shows as The George Lopez show, lopez tonight, Conan O'Brian, Regis and Kelly, The Today Show on NBC, and Motown Live, the movie Mars Attacks staring Tom Jones, the television sitcom Full House staring John Stamos, television series American family staring Edward James Olmos and Raquel Welch, in which Sal gets his first speaking role with Raquel. And most recently The George Lopez TV sitcom and Lopes tonight, Arcenio Hall Show & Queen Laifa show.
When Sal is not on tour with the group he stays busy in L.A. working the local club scene, producing, recording sessions and organizing fundraisers for schools and various non profit groups in the community, along with being a family man happily married to his beautiful wife Madeline of 19 years, three kids; daughters Sheila, Andrea and his son Little Sal "his best buddy"
Sal's inspiration: making people laugh and to become a full time comedian, playing piano and singing his favorite Beatles songs. “Keeping God first and family is the key of life I truly feel blessed.
