Redd Reddington

OPENSIGHT

Date of Birth: 24th June 1978
Place of Birth: Stockton-on-Tees, England.
Redd has been playing in London-based, cinematic prog-metal band Opensight for the past three years. Opensight's music draws heavily on the feel of the silver screen spy thrillers and horror films of the late twentieth century, delighting audiences with impressive audio and visual displays. Redd cites influences from diverse artists such as the out-and-out thrash genius of Vinnie-Paul, Charlie Benante, Iggor Cavalera, Nick Menza and Dave Lombardo to musical greats Ginger Baker, Joe Morello, Stewart Copeland, Rich Battersby, and Danny Carey.
At the age of 15, Redd got his first (and still current) set of drums and cut his teeth playing 90s thrash metal in Descension, playing extensively across Teesside. Various bands followed and upon relocating to Kent, England, Redd got into the London music scene.
After supporting The Damned at Bulldog Bash 25, Redd left blues rock group Nico's Alchemy but kept in touch with bassist Danni Stanner who later joined Opensight. Some months down the line Redd got the call from Danni asking if he'd be interested in joining Opensight on a permanent basis.
During the preparation and recording of the band's second EP, Ulterior Motives, producer/engineers Will Maya (The Answer, Breed 77) and Paul Love (The Bloom Twins) worked closely with Redd to get the best performance and big drum sound for the EP.
Ulterior Motives debuted exclusively on Rolling Stone India's website and the band's sound has been likened to Faith No More, Devin Townsend and Opeth.
