Martin Plante

Martin was born in Lac-Mégantic(Québec,Canada) in 1984. He started playing the drums at age 12
by playing some Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Green Day and Metallica. At the age of 14 he begin drum
lesson with the great Jean-Philippe Fortier, learning how to read and to play different styles of
music.At 16, he got his first big gig by playing in a tribute to System of a Down. He's biggest
drum influence growing up was : Mike Portnoy, Chad Smith, Dave Grohl, Dave Welck and
Lars Ulrich.To gain more knowledge to his instrument, Martin completed his college in music
at the cegep of Sherbrooke(2007) with Chantal Simard(Répercussion) and his University and
interpretation with Marc Bonneau(Bruno Pelleter), Michel Bernard(Maggie Blanchard) and
Mario Boivin.
In 2015, he won the Groove Essentials contest. The award winner drumming methods(most
sold one for the last decades) by the great Tommy Igoe. He succeeded in the international
category by performing the groove 97(a 7/8 advanced groove).
He has played with many different bands and artist that help him gained experiences in every
styles. Pop, Rock, Metal, Prog, Jazz, Hip-hop, Latin, and so on. From Cover band, tribute band,
top 40 bands, house band member, and mainly in band situation(Liva, Metao)
He now play for the Huis(progressive rock band), and he will do all the tour for this band. He
also plays for Samajam, a percussive live-show, and for the artist Emmanuel Hyppolite and
Justine Blanchet. Another of his band is the blues/rock/funk band, The Ever After. And he is
the musical director of the Church La Chapelle(campus Ahuntic).
Martin is also a Drum Teacher for many years know(since 2010 almost full time). He has
released a drum method called 'méthode de batterie Martin Plante' in 2016. He teaches to
around 25-30 students a weeks.
