Martin Devaney

Martin Devaney

Growing up on a council estate in the south of England, Martin Devaney grew up in a house with 3 brothers that shaped his destiny of becoming an accomplished musician. Through his early life Martin wanted to follow in his elder brothers footsteps by playing guitar but at the age of 8 was introduced to the drums when watching a gig that the local college had arranged with the school which his brother also performed at. It was a further 5 years before Martin would finally pic up the sticks to start his quest on the drums.
After a few lessons Martin started to teach himself the drums at school when he had free time in his breaks, and after a change of school he met guys that he would later be in a band with. Martin went to college and played in many bands during this time learning from each group that he played in until he left the UK when he was 17 and started living in Switzerland where he truly honed his skills in up in the Swiss mountains.
After 2 years Martin was introduced to a band that needed a drummer but unfortunately started to feel home sick and returned home to the UK after 3 years. Upon his return Martin started playing drums with his brothers band along with jam nights increasing his ability to different styles of music with relative ease. After a few years playing drums for his brother the band finally split up and Martin took up boxing with his friend from school but on a fateful day off they had a jam session and started a punk group called Caught In A Crossfire and momentum really start in his musical career. 2 years later Caught In A Crossfire was signed to an indie record label after extensive gigging around the UK, but before the bands untimely split, they had recorded a 5 track EP, appeared on a punk 4 japan compilation cd along with a couple of festivals and radio, after the split Martin played a few deputized shows for local bands to keep ticking over. Martin has recently just taken the Throne of a melodic hardcore punk band from Hampshire UK called Fig. 11.
