Kevin Bowden Jr was born on October 28, 1986. He has been playing drums for 22 yrs. Kevin got his first pair of drumsticks made by Glen Weber of West Orange, NJ. At the age of 4 yrs. old Kevin got his first drum set from his grandfather and has been playing ever since. When Kevin was about 6 or 7 yrs. old, he used to always watch his father, Kevin Bowden Sr, play for the 100 women in white in Rahway NJ. Kevin then started playing with them as well.

In middle school, Kevin played in his jazz band lead by Vernon Miller (bassist) at South Orange Middle School in South Orange, NJ. In 1995, Kevin attended the Jazz institute of New Jersey directed by jazz organist Radam Schwartz in New Brunswick, NJ. While in middle school, Kevin played alongside jazz drummer T.S. Monk for a drum program. In 2001, Kevin and his childhood friend Eric Hudson (producer) were part of the clef kids foundation organized by Wyclef Jean. That year Kevin and Eric performed alongside wyclef jean at Carnegie hall in NY and also shared the stage with Stevie wonder, Mary j Blige, Destiny’s child, Third World, Eric Clapton Whitney Houston, Marc Anthony and Charlotte Church.

Kevin also played with artists, Tina Brown, and Vee (from Koffee Brown) and groups such as Marquis Duncan and Adoration and g fy g. he also took lessons from ralph Peterson and Billy Hart and attended the summer jazz program at Montclair State University organized by Janet Lamensky. Kevin also attend Colgate University in Hamilton NY with the Clef Kids Foundation. Kevin also performed with Ralph Bowen (saxophonist) at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

In 2006, Kevin attended and played at The New Destiny Family Worship Center, in North Brunswick, NJ along with keyboardist, producer and brother figure Redd Lewis for three years. Kevin recorded an album with gospel artist Keith Bailey called Highest Praise and is currently playing for Keith Bailey and A.N.T.

In early 2008, Kevin also played on the recording album for the gospel group G fy G(Glorify God) and performed with them at NJPAC, sharing the stage with CeCe Winans. He just recently finished 3 live recordings with James Gibbs III ( jazz trumpeter for r&b singer Joe Thomas) and Cecil’s in West Orange, NJ, Chico’s in Asbury Park, NJ,and Skippers in Newark, NJ. He also was a finalist in the Guitar Center Drum Off for 2010 regional finals on Dec 2, 2010.

Kevin is currently living in East Orange NJ and plays for James Gibbs III, A Soulful Praise, Keith Bailey, A.N.T. and the Elmwood United Presbyterian Church in East Orange, NJ.

Kevin Bowden is an all-around drummer and can be seen in all fields of music such as jazz, r & b, gospel, fusion, rock, soca, reggae, etc.
