Joseph Howard

Joseph Howard (Scalafrejo) is a Colorado-based drummer and vocalist who currently plays in Fields of Elysium and Narcotic Wasteland. Born in 1988 into a musical family, at age 13 Joseph founded the band Scalafrea with his brothers Jake and Jaime. After a few years of live performances, in 2006 Scalafrea recorded Ingenuity of the Death Machine with producer Dave Otero. Featuring guest vocals by Cephalic Carnage's Leonard Leal, this album helped establish Joseph within the Denver metal scene, which in turn led to touring opportunities with bands such as Abolishment of Flesh and Rottenness.

Over the past decade, Joseph has recorded several more albums with Scalafrea and other Denver-based projects; performed at over a dozen death metal festivals across the U.S.; played supporting sets on countless tour packages; and set up multiple tours as booking agent. With decades of experience under his belt, he intends to continue building his reputation as a reliable and creative performer.

Joseph is endorsed by Soultone Cymbals, Scorpion Percussion, Aquarian Drumheads, and Dirtbag clothing. You can follow him online on Facebook, Instagram (@scalafreadrums), Twitter (@scalafrea), Twitch and YouTube (@scalafrejo).
