Jonathan Méndez

Jonathan was born in Costa Rica on September 18, 1987. He began to play drum when he was 14 years old. Moreover, his interest for the music was begun to develop since he was a child, because his great-grandfather was saxophonist of the Orchestra Otto Vargas Jazz Band. Furthermore, Jonathan´s family has been an essential support in his career; his father Orlando Méndez, his mother Maribel Miranda, his sister Abigail and finally his brother Kenneth who is a bassist.

Nowadays, Jonathan is independent drummer, and professor of drum. Now , he studies Musical Education at the Universidad Continental de las Ciencias y el Arte. He also studied Business manager with emphasis in Finances at the Universidad Interamericana de Costa Rica. Besides, he plays drum at the church Centro Evangelístico; which has a huge minister in Costa Rica and the World.

The master trainers of Jonathan as drummer are the professors Javier Barboza, who is recognized in Costa Rica by his ability in Jazz. The other Jonathan´s professor is Mr. Kin Rivera, who is considered a legend in Costa Rica because he has made footprint by his international trajectory.

Some of the influences of Jonathan are the drummers: Steve Smith, Nathaniel Townsley, Nick D´Virgilio, Mr. Kin Rivera, Javier Barboza, Vinnie Colaiuta, Antonio Sánchez, Carlomagno Araya, Jojo Mayer, and other drummers else.

His main musical goods are, rock, pop, funk, fusion, acid jazz, gospel, Latin- Cuban rhythms, ballad, samba, and others.

Finally, in his daily goals are to increase as drummer everyday, but mainly as person. He has dreams to do, but he never stops fighting by what he really loves.
