From an early age Grant was a fan of anything that made noise. Whether it was trains, toys, or banging on everything near him, that’s when he was happiest. His mom and dad decided to channel that energy into something that might help him overcome his more reserved personality. A close personal friend of the family is an award-winning drummer, who volunteered to give him private lessons at the age of 4. It was a perfect match; he could make noise and hide behind the drum set. Once he hit high school the only things, he wanted to do was drum and play baseball. Grant joined every band opportunity that presented itself, including Jazz band and State Honors band. This was the time when Grant dove headfirst into music theory and Jazz drumming. He attributes his drumming and style to that of Gene Krupa. After a brief stint in the US Navy, Grant earned his degree in Audio Production and Engineering from The Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis, MN. He formed and currently plays with alt-rock band, New Locals, and the melodic hardcore band, Bullet to Binary; both Minneapolis based bands. Being a part of Soultone family is an amazing opportunity, and he can’t wait to see what the future holds.
