Chris Lopez

Independent/Scott Thomas/Ringside

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chris grew up with a variety of musical influences. At a very young age, Chris was introduced to multiple styles of music thanks to his family, namely his father. From the likes of The Bee Gees, Jim Croce, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, and Aerosmith to genre pillars like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin and so on; Chris was exposed and loved all that his family would listen to. Realizing his son had a knack for music, Chris’s father bought a drum set for his son to begin his musical journey. At age 10, Chris was playing along to records and learning all the drum parts to his favorite bands and artists. Chris soon began playing drums at church alongside his father on bass, and his sister on piano and vocals. Playing in church helped develop Chris’s ear, and he learned the importance of musicianship and musical chemistry within a band.

At 15 years old, Chris left school to join a hispanic alternative-rock band and embarked on a 4-month tour throughout Mexico. During this time, he realized something very profound: He wanted to play music for the rest of his life. Driven and encouraged by his time on the road, he went back to high school and got his diploma. He then spent his early 20s in between college working as a studio and live drummer. He made the decision to pursue music full-time and left college. Chris has worked with many local Los Angeles artists and has been featured on albums from Scott Thomas and Ringside, worship artist Ryan Hall, Santa Cruz band Kokua, and many more. Chris’s drumming styles range from Rock, Pop, R&B, Funk, to Blues, Jazz, and Fusion.
