Per Karlsson, born Feb 14th 1973. A drummer that has fought his way up to the top of the world’s
extreme Metal drumming from rock bottom, literally.
Started bashing drums at the age of 10, and fortunately Per had a very supportive mom and dad, who
could provide him with a basic drum kit pretty much straight away, after the kid had break far too many
plates with his cutlery for their liking.
Through the 80’ and 90’s Per ended up shaping his unique style of playing and performing drums via
recording artists such as SUFFER, SERPENT and NASUM.
Around the millennium Per stepped up and joined the extreme Death/Black Metal bands NOMINON
and IN AETERNUM, which led to releasing albums and EP´s on a more frequent level, as well as
touring the world more extensively.
In 2010 Per got a call from the Aussie Metal band DESTRÖYER 666, they were looking for a drummer
for an US tour. He accepted more or less instantly, which resulted in Per joining the band on a
permanent basis. Per recorded and are featured on three releases with DESTRÖYER 666 (”Wildfire”
album, ”Traitor” single and ”Call of the wild” M-LP , before he decided to leave in 2017. Around this
time is also when Per got his nickname, who later turned into his artist name ”PERRACIDE”.
Even though Per has been busy pretty much all the time since the dawn of time, this never stopped
him from jumping in performing live with Death metal gigants BENEDICTION (Nuclear Blast Records)
between 2011-2013, and INTERMENT (Pulverised Records) 2010-2011, as well as recording albums
with DARKENED, DIE HARD, DREADFUL FATE, ELDFÖDD, THORIUM, TOXAEMIA among others
over the years.
In the more recent years, Per ended up releasing his own solo album under the PERRACIDE
monicker, entitled ”Underdog”. A album including more than thirty guests from the old school Extreme
Metal scene. Worth mentioning is also that five of the tracks on the actual albums were penned,
recorded and performed only with the actual drums tracks. No guitars, no vocals, no melodies, just
rhythms that Per had inside his head. After the drum tracks were recorded, Per sent out the files to
some great musicians that could put some more sick colours to the beats and rhythms, so at the end
of the day they all ended up as full songs. In that sense, PERRACIDE certainly stands out, since no
one had ever writing music like that previously.
PERRACIDE is also the official ”Live drummer” for the new super group HELLBUTCHER since early
2024, containing of members also/previously of: NIFELHEIM, UNLEASHED, GAAHLS WYRD &
MORDANT. HELLBUTCHER is right now touring worldwide in support of their debut album, out on
METAL BLADE RDS.

”I have been following the SOULTONE CYMBALS for quite some time now. We actually were in touch
already ten years ago for a possibe endorsement agreement. But obviously the timing wasn’t right, so
nothing came out of it back then. Yet when the SOULTONE guys reached out to me this time around,
everything fell into place pretty much straight away.
After a bit thought I decided to go with the SOULTONE ”Extreme”-brand cymbals. Mainly since the
word itself goes hand in hand with my drumming style; I guess one can say.
