Paximus

Cinematic Drummer
Paximus Profile Photo

Paximus is a cinematic drummer originally from Orange County, California whose playing is
rooted in discipline, endurance, and musical storytelling. He began playing at age 11 in the
church, where he developed a foundation in dynamics, consistency, and playing with
purpose. He is a Christian man whose faith in Jesus Christ remains central to his life, and it
continues to shape both his character and his approach to music.
Largely self-taught, Paximus never received formal training in drumming. His growth came
through instinct, feel, and deep connection with the musicians around him—learning to
listen, respond, and create in the moment. This foundation shaped his musicality into
something expressive, relational, and emotionally driven.
Over time, he expanded into rock and performance-based projects, refining a style built on
controlled intensity—balancing power with sustainability. His approach is not just about
performance, but longevity: learning how to play in a way that allows him to endure
physically while still delivering with emotional impact.
Beyond the stage, Paximus spent nearly a decade as a Technical Director and Cinematic Arts
educator, teaching students how to tell stories through sound and film. That foundation
now defines his identity as a drummer—every performance is approached as a narrative,
not just a cover.
After navigating physical strain and reaching a point where stepping away from drumming
felt possible, Paximus experienced a defining turning point: a 12-hour session behind the kit
that reset both his mindset and direction. Toward the end of that session, a word he had
learned as a child in church came to mind—ESGRIMA (“on guard”). In that moment,
something shifted. From that point forward, the identity of VANGUARD was born.
VANGUARD represents resilience, discipline, and joy—an extension of Paximus that
embodies the commitment to keep going when others would stop. It reflects a mindset
formed through perseverance, healing, and rediscovery—choosing to continue playing, to
grow, and to unite people through music and creativity. There is more to that story still
unfolding.
Through his presence on Instagram and YouTube, Paximus shares this journey through
cinematic visuals, intentional song selection, and performance-driven storytelling. His
mission extends beyond drummers—he aims to encourage anyone who has felt burnt out,

discouraged, or overlooked to persevere, to heal, to play again, and ultimately to unite
through creative expression.
His drumming influences include Darren King (MUTEMATH), Stewart Copeland (The
Police), and Jen Ledger (Skillet & Ledger), as well as cinematic composers whose use of
dynamics and tension inform his approach to tone and performance. His sound emphasizes
clarity, impact, and musicality—values that align closely with the craftsmanship and
philosophy of SoulTone Cymbals.
