Alicia Turner

Alicia Turner has been a musician as long as she can remember. She came up singing in church choir while growing up in Southern California, and began playing drums at the age of ten. In her early years of drumming she was mentored by Kenney Dale Johnson (Chris Isaak) and Tammi D (daughter of Bo Diddley).

Throughout high school and college she performed with several International Championship medalist groups in the rudimental/marching arena including Santa Clara Vanguard, RCC, Black Knights, Blue Knights, and Vanguard Cadets. Upon "aging out" from those organizations in 2005 she has moved on to instruct several schools and independent ensembles including World Champions Pacifica High School and Pulse Percussion Ensemble.

In 2005 she drummed in the White Stripes-esqe indie acoustic band Dirty Pigeons with guitarist Brian Drummy. Dirty Pigeons held a weekly residency at a local South Orange County bar.

In 2006 Alicia moved to the East Coast to live in Boston, MA. There she studied drums with Anthony Steele (Berklee College of Music), and performed in the band A Good Front. AGF played frequently in Boston/Cambridge at many venues including The Middle East, TT the Bears Place, and Brandeis University, as well as The Living Room in Providence, RI, and several venues in New York City. They were featured on www.future-breed.com, as well as in the Brandeis University newspaper. In 2007 A Good Front recorded a full length album entitled Subterranean Cabaret, mixed by Mike Irwin at Machine Gun Studios, which can be found in the iTunes music store.

2008 brought Alicia back to Southern California where she joined up with the band One Lonely Robot to gig regularly in the San Diego area.

Currently, Alicia is playing with Christian artist Angel Smythe and serves in worship ministry at many churches in Orane County, CA. Angel Smythe band recently performed at the Spirit West Coast music festivals and is busy promoting the new release of the full length album "A Stronger Me", available on iTunes and CD Baby.
