Raising the bar for the typical metal drummer, Brian
Saunders has
redefined the
position, while smashing the sideman stigma placed
on most drummers in the process with multiple creative blows.
Hailing from
Las Vegas
,
NV
as a showroom/studio musician and teacher,
Brian Saunders was
intent on broadening the definition of what most
drummers
contribute creatively to the industry.
Discontent with
merely making a
living as a musician Brian went on sabbatical in Los
Angeles studying
with recording artists Rick Steel and Tim Alexander
(Primus).
As a member of The Musicians Union Local #47 in Los
Angeles, local
studio work ensued and Brian found himself once again
earning a living
as a hired gun. I After
touring and playing
extensively
throughout his career with acts including Tommy Boy
recording artist
Sri, and legendary hard core metal creators I
Defy, Brian began
to write extensively and as a result:
The
Greatest Fear was
born.
Adding writer,
producer and entrepreneur to his resume with The
Greatest Fears
critically acclaimed release The Coronation Of The
Locust Queen on
his own Red Room Records label, Brian finally filled
the creative void.
Since forming The Greatest Fear with writing
partner Jane
Saunders, The Greatest Fearís debut CD The Coronation
Of The Locust
Queen has won the coveted Independent Music Awards
2006 Hard Rock/
Heavy Metal Album of The Year. The IMA awards are
sponsored by the
international tour publication The
Musician's
Atlas And Borders Books
and Music boasting
a 4.5 million customer
contact
program whose
judges included Norah Jones; Melissa
Etheridge; Joe
Perry; George Clinton; Paquito D'Rivera as well as
industry
professionals from UltraStar Entertainment and Billboard
Magazine. Selected
from thousands of CDs internationally, the
Independent Music
Awards has literally made the careers of past
artists (Last years
winner was Lacuna Coil).
The Greatest Fear
was named as 2005's Best Gothic Band by
L.A.
's
premier
Local Music
Magazine: The Rock City News, sold over 4000 copies of
The
Coronation Of The
Locust Queen in less than 8 months and is touring
extensively
through out the
United
States
.
Never slowing
down, Brian is slated to appear on episode #61 of Drum
TV;
Featuring Brian's
double bass acumen with Ballistic Drum creator Joe
Ballistic. Brian
is excited to be interviewed and featured on a program
that has included Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) and Dave Lombardo
(Slayer)
as
past guests.
