Ty Fleischut, born and raised in Upstate New York, has been hitting the skins ever since he got a pair of bongos for his first birthday. Born a percussionist, Ty taught himself to play the kit at age 9, and soon after also learned the guitar, bass, keyboards, and turntablism. Raised on a diet of classic rock and growing into a wide variety of influences including funk, jazz, ska, and hip-hop, Ty often plays the drums with a relaxed, improvised approach, listening intently to the musicians around him and coming up with spontaneous new grooves. In 2014 Ty studied with Mike Marlier and Lynn Baker at the Lamont School of Music Summer Academy. From 2015 to 2018 Ty studied drums, guitar, and production with Berklee Online, where he received a Professional Certificate in Music and a Specialist Certificate in Drums. Ty is a founding member of the independent record label Flyshooter Records, and one of several producers for the hip-hop group Schoolama 5. Open minded and a lover of collaboration, Ty Fleischut is always ready to jam.
