Shawn Fichtner

Shawn Fichtner has been a drummer for nearly 18 years. He got his first kit at the age of 6. He started taking lessons from his private teacher Frank Parente when he was in the 8th grade. His obsession for the drum set took hold in high school when he met Chris Bernotas, his jazz band director, who turned him on to new and different kinds of music. Shawn has been quoted as saying " Those years with Mr. Bernotas were paramount in developing my weird taste in music. It's probably why I like to play in so many different kinds of bands." In 2002, Shawn made the decision to leave high school to attend The Drummers Collective in NYC. After his stint at The Collective, Shawn returned home with a new and improved attitude ,and began playing in numerous local bands. Eventually he was approached by long time musical acquaintance, Josh Lurie, to try out for his band Tokyo Rose. And so began the touring career of Shawn Fichtner. 8 months, 40 some odd states, and 2 foreign countries later, Shawn was trying out for another band, Action Reaction. He got the gig, and for nearly 2 years Action Reaction was his home. After the breakup of Action Reaction, Shawn and the remaining members started a new band called OLD WIVES, who released their debut album in 2011 called "old wives presents tidal tales." When he isn't playing with old wives, he can be found behind the kit in numerous other bands such as THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS, and mouthbreath (as Steven Icks), to name a few. For "one of New Jersey's best rock drummers", 2012 is looking up to be a great year. With albums set to be released and tours being planned, you are sure to be hearing more from Shawn Fichtner.
