With a passion for music that spans several genres, ROBERT DESHAWN PAYNE is a gifted percussionist with an exceptional approach that makes the song feel just a good as it sounds. A proud native of Memphis, Tennessee, his gift has landed him on major stages with some of the nation’s top artists both locally and internationally, and it continues to fascinate audiences on and off the stage!

As the lead percussionist for the King Bees, Robert has also toured internationally with the BB King’s All-Stars (Holland America Cruise Line) delivering top-notch performances that have left audiences spellbound. His rhythmic influence is attributed to such mentors as Charles Streeter, Sr., Steve Stewart, Dave Weckl, and Calvin Rodgers – to name a few.

Beyond music, Robert is a devoted father who enjoys the companionship of his two sons (Kaeden Malik and Kylon DeShawn) who also aspire to have careers in music. He is thrilled to be an affiliate of Soultone Cymbals.
