I started playing the drums when I was 16 years old. I was mainly a backing track for my friend in school who wanted a beat while he played the guitar. Something clicked and the both of us started our first official project together and started picking harder stuff to cover.
The next and hardest step was to convince my dad to put up the money for a low end drum kit for me to wail on. Coming from a middle class, conservative, south Indian background, this took some convincing. My first kit was a second hand local gb&a. It sounded terrible. I loved it.
Me and my friend started jamming on Static X, Bullet For my Valentine, Killswitch Engage, etc. Soon enough, we met up with a few other guys and started the band Skrypt. Skrypt was a death/thrash metal band that brought a fresh sound to the underground metal scene in India. We won a lot of competitions together, including some best drummer awards for me along the way. In 2010, Skrypt released it’s debut EP titled ‘Discord’. The Ep sold out the first batch of prints within three weeks. It was shipped to Germany, London and some parts of the US too.
I've been invited by various colleges such as IIT, BITS Pilani and Vasavi college of Engineering as a judge for their annual all India rock competitions.
I parted ways with Skrypt in 2014. From 2014 till present, Ive been working with and forming various projects. Some of which are Alteregoz, Last known Surroundings and Hostilian.
Alteregoz has been a rocknroll power house in the local scene since the early 90s.
Last Known Surroundings is the post rock project founded by AnanthaK.It blends the ambience of post rock with heavy progressive sections. It's also the only instrumental post rock act in South India.
Hostilian is a groove/thrash/progressive metal project. Hostilian released their debut EP titled MONOLITH in September of 2016. Having already toured India, the band also supported International acts such as GOROD(France) and METASTASIS(UK) on their Indian Tours. Hostilian is currently in studio and recording for their second EP, releasing in mid of 2018.
Influences-

Testimonial
Dark, abrasive and thrashy. These are some of the words that come to mind when I play my full Soultone set up. It is obvious that a ton of knowledge and care has gone into making these cymbals. The range through the entire catalogue is like a candy store of auditory assault. I could pick and choose all year and still want more. The EXTREME, GOSPEL and EXPLOSION series have taken my drum sound to a whole new level that I never knew existed. Not only do my Soultones sound good, but they look rad as hell. The other thing that really stood out for me was the attention and warmth that the staff showed me and how they helped me through the entire enrollment/sign-up process. This is the first and only Cymbal company I’ve signed with and can’t think of any place better.
