Quinten ”Q” showell is a young driven drummer who was blessed by god to have the gift of being able to play music . born on January 21st 1993, playing on pots and pans became his first priority, then advancing to the full drum set at 5 years old. He was heavily influenced by his older cousin Jerome Davis who was the drummer at the church at the time.”Jerome often tries to take most of the credit for me playing, he says that when I was in the womb he always used to put headphones on my mother’s stomach so that I would know music at a young age.” Well it must have worked because Q began playing for the children’s Choir at his church, which was then true cornerstone church, and now is the abundant life worship center church where Bishop John Gandy is the pastor. By the age 13 he was the head drummer at the church. He than started being told that he could actually become a professional drummer, he started to practice and then by the time he was 15, he was playing for his first group.(Stephen hackley &life of worship). Q is currently the drummer for abundant life worship center church, Stephen Hackley and life of worship, voices of abundance, tha menu /gen genius productions, and highest praise gospel choir. He is heavily influenced by the styles of Calvin Rodgers George “spanky” mcGurdy ,Brent Easton, Erik tribbette, Erik “booty” green, “lil Darrel” and a host of many other drummers. At a very young age he has the respect of many musicians from jersey, philly, new York, Baltimore, Delaware, and Virginia. Q is currently working on his first instrumental album.”some advice I would give to a young drummer is, to learn how to read music it will open many more doors than your skills will, I regret dropping my teaching sessions when I was younger.
