Mike Thompson

Michael Thompson, Born May 5, 1982. Started playing drums at the age of 5. You could tell, he had music in his blood by the way he started banging on pot and pans when his dad would play the bass. Michael started attending choir rehearsals with his father at the age of 5, and would always sit with the drummer. Every time the drummer took a break, I would jump on until he came back. Before you knew it, I was the back up drummer by the age of 7. And the full time drummer by 9. At the age of 11, I put the drumsticks down, to play sports. It wasn’t until the Age of 16 that I would pick up the sticks again. My father started his own church and needed a drummer, so I figured I’d do him a favor and play for him, not knowing all the passion I had still existed came back like never before. I begin to play just about everyday learning different styles and techniques that would stand out. Before you knew it, i started becoming a very busy drummer in the Inland Empire. I started playing for numerous churches and up and coming artist. Now, Michael is one of the busiest studio drummers in the Inland Empire. Having developed such a deep pocket while mastering the double bass pedal has allowed Michael to develop into a well-rounded musician. I started using the double bass a few years ago. I was in a horrible motorcycle accident, where my right knee was completely busted open. Not knowing if I can play drums again with that leg, I taught myself how to play using my left leg. This was clearly a blessing in disguise. I enrolled at the Orange County Music Academy where I went on to learn different styles of music as well as read charts under the leadership Sean Macaulay. Right now Michael is currently playing for B. McCargo and Kingdom Worship. We just finished our live DVD recording so be on the look out for great things to come…

P.S… Always remember, you’re never to cool to practice. Take the time to prefect your craft.
