Lyman was born in Jilin City, in Jilin Province, People’s Republic of China.; and started learning music initially from his father.

Lyman was able to focus on being a full time professional musician with the size and stature of his performances growing within the province from 1993. As he became more experienced, in 1997 Lyman move to Beijing and was quickly involved in several bands. He found himself performing on a number of television shows on China’s National TV carrier, CCTV. This includes the Channel [V] New Year Rock and Roll Concert, live variety shows and other music focused programming.

In addition to television Lyman was rising in the ranks of other Chinese singers. These include Rui Su and Lin Cheng. He was also performing with artists from outside of China Cara Dillon, Bang Gang, Tamas Wells, and the Raveonettes.

Lyman performed on and produced his release entitled “Suck, Suck, Suck” performed with the Pagan Band. This group toured extensively throughout China and the region.

Lyman’s has also performed on and produced his own solo albums, which include “The Dancing Little Guy” (2006), “The Lake Surface in January” (2006), “Joy of Life” (2008), “The Illusion Disappeared” (2009), “Wish” (2010 and in cooperation with Ecke), “Miss” (2013).

Lyman joined the Soultone Cymbals family in 2015, as one of the first endorsed artists from China
