Dugan Frase

100 Year Flood/BRIGHT/Independent

Born and raised in Farmington, New Mexico, I began like most drummers at a very early age, hitting pots, pans and anything that made a cool noise. My parents bought me a real drum kit when I was in elementary school and I was infatuated. I drew influences from everything around me, from my dad's endless eclectic record collection, to the pop music coming from my oldest sisters radio tape player. I spent weekends at rodeo grounds, watching my sister compete and absorbing the country music that was in the air. I found solace in the grooves and history of old records, rather than the modern music my classmates were interested in. My parents would take me to rock concerts all the time, where I was able to study some of greatest to do it, learning what a performer is and becoming obsessed with the craft. Once in high school, I joined the drumline, marching, concert, symphony and jazz bands. It was also around this time, I began joining punk and heavy metal bands, mostly out of necessity. Being popular in the area I grew up in, metal music served as a catalyst to performing in clubs and learning the business. Once my foot was in the door, I took any musical job I could playing anything from metal, country, blues, latin, bar bands, jam bands, jazz ensembles, top 40 groups and rock outfits. You name a style of music, chances are I've played it. Working today more as a hired gun in Colorado and New Mexico, I look forward to making music and learning more than ever.
