Daniel Sunshine

Daniel Sunshine is a young drummer who lives and plays in Los Angeles. He was born in 1995 and was immediately introduced to classic rock by his father. The drums always stuck out to him. He would always bang on pots and pans while listening to drummers such as Charlie Watts, Keith Moon and Max Weinberg. At 5 he got his first kit and began taking lessons locally. It was his first drum teacher that introduced him to jazz. Since then he has been refining his drumming skills in all genres of music, playing with multiple groups. He got his first professional gig at the age of 13, playing in the musical version of The Who’s Tommy for a theater company in San Jose. He then continued to play for musicals in the area. Over his highschool career he has studied jazz and music theory by attending residency programs at schools such as Stanford University, Skidmore and Interlochen Arts Academy. He now plays around LA with his school jazz band, the Colburn School Thursday Night Band, and the Los Angeles Youth Jazz Ensemble.
