Marcus Alexander

Marcus’ musical roots began as the drummer for his Mom who served as Minister of Music at several churches. From this beginning (around age 5) he played in all types of venues from musical workshops to weddings. By the age of 7, he was sought after and played for local community choirs and split time between two passions, sports and music. By the age of 18, he had developed into an excellent drummer and athlete. As a senior in high school, he auditioned for Grambling State University and was awarded a four year music scholarship to play percussion in the World Famed Tiger Marching Band. Shooting three pointers and pitching shut outs then took a back seat to playing music and performing. Traveling all across the U.S. with the marching band and jazz band provided him with opportunities and experiences of a lifetime. Packed auditoriums, concert halls, churches, college and NFL stadiums are a norm for the life of this music major taking his talents to the next level.

He has played for gospel recording artists such as Jai Reed and Frederick Pinkney. He plays for Grambling State University's jazz band and its gospel choir, Entourage.

Marcus has also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and performed as part of its annual Percussion Festival.

Marcus was introduced to Soultone cymbals by one of his friends. After listening and playing the product, there was an instant chemistry which lead to his endorsement. In his own words, "The Soultone sound is quality and gives me confidence that when I perform, the audience will appreciate what they hear. Soultone cymbals also add a personal feel to my drum kit."
